We present a case study on the role of syntactic structures towards resolving the Semantic Textual Similarity (STS) task. Although various approaches have been proposed, the research of using syntactic information to determine the semantic similarity is a relatively under-researched area. At the level of syntactic structure, it is not clear how significant the syntactic structure contributes to the overall accuracy of the task.
